I haven’t been to any seminars yet but I have joined many ezines to learn more. I read about book signings after I really had one. I turned out doing the things I was told to do which didn’t help because I was caught in a time where there were too many things going on in town and surrounding towns so the turn out was bad. Now I know that the date is just as important and will make sure there aren’t any other events going on at the same time stealing my readers away from me lol.

My marketing plan consists of all the reviews I have recieved so far, a poster to hang in stores advertising book signings which I left blank so I could hand write in the date and time for the stores who will host me. I did a sheet for the book’s synopsis which is short, a brief autobiagraphy, 2 bookmarks I made for the owner, my business card, and a magnet all with my cover on them.

If another beginning author came up to me, I would tell them to get reviews done before the book came out. It is so much harder afterwards and then you can’t get the big name reviewers like those magazines in the genre of the book. Then I would tell them to create a professional website, not one of those free webs. From there, I would tell them to begin telling people and ask their friends and family to help out either by passing on the word or by passing out flyers. They could also go to the post office and ask them to mail out flyers too, just be sure to pay for the postage.

When doing a booksigning, having a free gift will attract more people. If you like candy, add a sticker to the wrapper with the cover of the book and the website url. If they just take the candy, they will remember the site and the book, hopefully checking it out later.
